HELLO, SURFACE PRESSURE.
Following the release of Mix this week, we’re happy to share more good news: Surface Pressure is here! Simply install iOS 8 on your iPad, then connect Pencil with Paper to take advantage of this new feature.

Surface Pressure uses Pencil’s uniquely-designed tip to make expression possible from every angle: use the tip for fine details or the angled edge for broad strokes, fill faster as you draw, or carve away in varying widths as you erase. Surface Pressure is currently enabled for Draw, Outline, and Color, and is coming soon to the Sketch tool.
Though we call it “surface pressure,” it does not require extra pressure to work. Just tilt the tip or eraser to dramatically increase the range of sizes you can achieve.
We’re committed to always improving the products we build—not only for new creators, but for everyone who’s been with us since day one. Visit Making FiftyThree to learn about the thinking behind Surface Pressure and, as always, we welcome you to contact us with feedback and suggestions.
Find out where you can buy Pencil on fiftythree.com/buy.
We can’t wait to see what you create.
